Habitat New Construction Showcase
July 20 from 12:00pm - 4:00pm
Last year, Cleveland Habitat hosted an Open House event showcasing two recently rehabbed homes in the Buckeye and Mount Pleasant communities. The event was extremely successful and featured resource tables from 14 different community organizations, sports activities with nonprofit Recess Cleveland, free food and refreshments for all the attendees, and bonding between the residents and law enforcement.
This year, Habitat will host a similar event, again featuring resource tables from organizations, activities with Recess Cleveland, and the 4th District Police to bond with residents. This event will be an opportunity to showcase the neighborhood and various residents, partners, and organizations that make Buckeye and Mount Pleasant great.
This event will give any interested residents the opportunity to see the early stages of construction on the new homes in Buckeye! Habitat is building ten new homes on Grandview Avenue in 2019 very close to each other, making it easy for the residents to see all the build sites. These ten homes are the beginning of a larger 40 new home construction project over five years in Buckeye, and will allow residents to see the opportunity to own a brand new home through the Habitat program!
Habitat staff will be on site giving out information and applications to the program, as well as answering any questions. Additionally, this year Habitat will partner with Home Repair Resource Center to provide construction instruction to children in the community. Kids will have the opportunity to learn how to build birdhouses and other items, empowering them to see what they can accomplish.
This event will also utilize public space for sporting activities, arts and crafts, and refreshments in vacant lots around where our homes are being built.
Location: Vacant Lots on Grandview Avenue
