Welcome to the new website of the Saint Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland, Ohio.  We have designed this site to provide you with an overview of the Saint Luke’s Foundation, and to encourage potential partners and colleagues to get to know us better.  Like our investments in the community, our website is a “work on progress” and we encourage you to visit often.

 

For over a century, Saint Luke’s Medical Center was a vital force in the neighborhoods it served. Originally established in 1894 as the Cleveland General Hospital, the name was changed to Saint Luke’s in 1907.  In 1997, Saint Luke’s became part of a for-profit health care corporation, and the charitable assets were used to establish the Saint Luke’s Foundation of Cleveland, Ohio.  The foundation trustees and staff, listed in the “Who We Are” section of this website, are dedicated to ensuring these preserved funds provide benefit to the neighborhoods and the community at large for years to come.

 

Our mission: to reinvest our resources to provide leadership and support for the improvement and transformation of the health and well-being of individuals, families and communities of Greater Cleveland, is an underpinning of all grantmaking decisions.

 

Our vision: to be a philanthropic innovator and catalyst that supports programs that significantly advance its mission and have the potential to be locally, regionally and nationally recognized and replicated.

 

As our role in philanthropy evolves, we continue to regard the management and allocation of Foundation funds as a sacred trust. We are deeply troubled by the disparities in health status in our community, and we are eager to be a catalyst for progressive movement toward the elimination of barriers, which keep people from fulfilling their dreams of living healthy, productive lives.

 

We are proud to serve the people of our community in this way, and look forward to opportunities to support important work in collaboration with partners, who share our vision of a healthy Greater Cleveland.
